Bordeaux Wine Tasting
How I feel in love with French and Bordeaux wine....
When we think of French wine we will all automatically think of quality. You're in luck because there is a great and fun wine match-making event, NOT a singles event, but rather an event for wine enthusiastics, called Bordeaux Wine Tasting that takes place inside Sofitel Hotel, in a lounge called Riviera 31 Lounge and Patio on May 12th, 2014. It is great for wine lovers and new wine lovers, like me, who wants to get a taste of French wine. When you sign up to the event, you are to fill out a few simple questions about your wine preferences and the match-making team works hard to put together suitable wines for your palette on event day.
I personally preferred sweet wines so I was directed to Table 1, the table filled with sweet wines from France. The finest quality from Bordeaux, France! I knew there would be a large variety of wines and was fascinated to see they drew a very large crowd to this event. I made a few new friends and asked them about which wines they preferred and everyone had a different taste. Everyone! Some wanted dry wines, some wanted the sparklings, some wanted the sweets, all the variety you can imagine. Each table at the event catered to the many preferences. Props to the team who put this event together! I can only imagine how much work is involved for this large crowd.
I had the opportunity to talk to Mitchell Pender who represented Thienot about the wines at my table, table 1. He also told me he represented a few more wines that were at the other tables. I've told Mitchell that I would contact him to ask him more about the wines that he represents from Thienot so I will write a separate blog for it, stay tuned. From his collection today, I tried the Chateau Rahoul, Chateau de Richaud, and the Chateau Roumieu. I would say my favorite was the Chateau Roumieu. I loved the aroma and the sweetness on my tongue. More than anything I would say it was the aroma that appealed to me.
This was definitely a great event to spend time with your friends over some high quality French wine from Bordeaux or simply to come to network or make new friends. After 9:30pm they had live Jazz Music inside at the bar area where you can spend the rest of your night relaxing in. At the patio is a live DJ spinning great tunes for the large crowd. Not to mention the game area where you can win free goodies by answering a question. I won myself a bottle opener. I really enjoyed the diversity in the crowd. When people think wine they normally think snobby people but definitely not at this event. Great times in LA on a Monday night. Be sure to check out Bordeaux's website for upcoming events! Again, big props to those who made this event happen and big thanks to Niketa, the Project Manager, for the invite!!! I will now place Bourdeaux wines to my top list of wines to buy! Can these be found at BevMo??? I'm definitely interested in trying more.
