Smashburger 8-course VIP Tasting Event
Smashburger opens a new location in Monrovia, C.A. and I was invited to the 8-course VIP Tasting Event. Smashburger is no stranger to the biz, based in Denver, with well over 60 restaurants across the nation and international. For those of you who don't know them yet they are fast-casual dining and have two more locations in the L.A. county. www.smashburger.com What makes them different than say, fast food giant In N' Out or gourmet Unami Burger is, well...Smashburger are in-between those two. It is not fast food and not gourmet. You can walk away and pay less than $10 for an entire meal. Add a shake then it'll be $10. Go to their website and find out more about them. On to the fun part about the VIP Tasting Event......
8-course and the selection of burger and fries is a variety. They have smash fries which is tossed in a seasoning of olive oil and rosemary. Haystack Onion and fried pickles too! The fried pickles is in their secret menu (not so secret anymore) so be sure to ask about them!
Here comes the burgers. What they do different from the other burger joints is...they roll out the meat into a ball then they smash it on the grill. This method makes for a juicy succlent burger patty that you MUST try! My personal favorite is the BBQ, Bacon & Cheddar Burger. I loved the BBQ sauce smothered in the beef patty and the cheddar cheese added the extra tast and gooze. Loved it!!! The beauty about Smashburger is you can have your burger custom made.
The signature Los Angeles Smashburger, the L.A., features a crispy wonton, fried egg, cilantro, cucumber, lettuce, tomato and Japanese steakhouse ginger dressing on a black and white sesame seed bun. Very L.A. indeed.
Time to head in the kitchen. Wash your hands, put on the apron, and gloves. A.J. teaches us how to make a Smashburger! Roll it in a ball, smash it down on the grill, look for the bubbles, pick it up and set it to the side, and voila! You have your Smashburger.
Thank you Smashburger Monrovia staff and Brian Beers for the delicious food! The Monrovia location opens officially on Dec. 6th, 2013.
